Scott E. Norwood's Home Page
Obligatory cheesy web-counter:
(hits since February, 1996)
Wow, for the second time ever, I'm finally doing a complete makeover of this page. Who would have thought it would ever happen? You'd think that the universe had imploded or Red Sox had won the World Series or something. Oh, wait, they did. Hmm....
Anyway, I'm Scott, I'm 31 years old (yes, I'm officially old; I will be booking the room at the nursing home shortly), and I do system administration work on Unix and Windows NT/2000/XP/etc. machines and maintain the network for a software company in Waltham. Although I am reluctant to admit it, I have also worked on telephone systems (none of which has sound quality or reliability that compares with a 1950s Western Electric 500 set, which is a rather sad commentary on the current state of that industry). I did the Internet start-up thing from about 1999 through 2001; it was fun while it lasted.
I graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. (the tourist capital of the state...er...Commonwealth). I currently live in downtown Boston. My Personality Type is ISTJ. I will usually answer to some combination of "Scott," Norwood," or "snorwood." I don't have a cell phone and don't have cable. My car is a grey 2003 Honda Accord (I finally ditched the station-wagon habit last fall).
I am not related to that Scott Norwood guy who missed the field goal for the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl, nor do I know him or have any idea how to get in touch with him. Don't even ask. Sorry.
In additional computer stuff and general geekiness, hobbies include music, current events/politics, cinema history and technology, photography, reading, travel, baseball, and duct tape. I collect movies on 35mm film and occasionally do film (16/35/70mm) and video (all formats, VHS through HDCAM) projection and sound work for festivals and special events. If you want to rent a Dolby CP65 or 16mm and 35mm film projectors (suitable for screens smaller than 10' wide), or need a licensed operator for same, I might be able to help. I have also been known to run 35mm dailies and consult with film- and video-makers who wish to exhibit their works theatrically and desire a high level of picture and sound quality on a limited budget.
I will add more information about me as well as various pointless musings at some point in the future. In the meantime, check out the following:
