PREPARATION FOR SHOW: - in brown panel, turn on the following circuits: threading lights #1 and #2, picture changeover, sound rack (use only switch #8; leave switch #12 off!), projector motors (#1 and #2), and wall light in rewind room - turn on exhaust fan (keyswitch in mens' room) - turn on amps (everything else in the sound rack should be "on" before the amplifiers are switched on) - in grey panel, turn on the top four switches (rectifiers); make sure that the "PAR Can" circuits are switched off for films (but on for live show) - set Dolby processor to "non-sync" and start playing walk-in music on CD player (make sure it is pluged in, then adjust volume on EQ box, set CD on "repeat"); if sound quality is poor, make sure that live sound console is turned "off" - select proper format on Dolby processor (for Dolby films, push "in" the switches for Dolby, Stereo, and Surround; for mono films, push these switches again to put them in their "out" position) - make sure that film volume is set to "local" (not remote) fader, and that fader is set to about "8" (more for big crowds) - make sure that exciter power supplies are both set to "normal" and that both exciter lamps are lit - make sure that screen is down, masking is set properly, and curtains are closed - turn all house light dimmers to 100%, make sure that the knife switches below each dimmer are in the "down" (on/controlled by dimmer) position; the bulb above each dimmer should be lit - go over to #2 projector and activate its picture and sound changeover (i.e. set picture/sound to projector #2) - clean projectors if not done the night before - thread up first reel of film in #1 projector; check lenses and aperture plates in both projectors and make sure that they are appropriate for the film being shown; run down leader on the first reel to the last number on the countdown (usually "3" for the footage countdown or "2" for the clock-sweep time countdown) - thread up second reel of film in #2 projector and run it down to the "9" (footage countdown) or "6" (clock-sweep time countdown) for changeover - strike lamp on #1 projector about five minutes before scheduled showtime; keep hand dowser closed - wait for cashier to ring bell to signal start of show
